The worker, who was dismissed without compensation on the grounds that he caused the death of a cat he left on the street, became entitled to receive his compensation.
The worker, who worked as an operator, put the cat at the workplace in a box and threw it onto the street, using the excuse of “I’m pulling its dirt and smell.” The cat, thrown onto the street, was later found and taken to a veterinarian, where it died due to its injuries. The employer terminated the worker’s contract without compensation due to the worker’s responsibility for the cat’s death.
The local court ruled that the termination of the contract was UNREASONABLE, and the decision was upheld by the 9th Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation with its decision dated 28.11.2018. The worker became entitled to receive his compensation.
